Charity Art Exhibition! Strength: Paired Photos and Illustrations
Last night I had the privilege to attend an exhibition of Strength in pictorial pairings. Let me explain …
Emma says she watched one of her own family members coping with cancer and marveled at how strong that person remained. The idea of capturing that strength in pictorial form was borne from there. They selected a dozen people who despite adversity, age or illness display enviable and boundless strength and tenacity.
The subjects were photographed thoughtfully, giving us a glimpse into their lives. Each photograph was paired with the unaffected but markedly perceptive viewpoint of the young illustrator.
All profits were donated to Dove Hospice www.dovehospice.org.nz, an organisation close to the hearts of both the artists.
Despite the exhibition running for one night only, it was well attended and every painting sold. Approximately $1,000 was raised.
